GrantStation Webinar:
Building Leadership for the New Nonprofit
A Framework for Startups
25 May, 2010

Are you starting a new organization? About a quarter of new nonprofits don't survive. How can you make sure you're in the 75% who go on to grow and prosper? Alexandra Peters will lead a webinar at GrantStation.com on Tuesday, May 25th at 2pm EST which will take you through the basics of building a strong foundation of leadership, including establishing a board of committed advocates, developing long-term strategies for governance, and promoting a strengths-based organizational culture.

For more information, and to register, visit GrantStation.com.

Resource

Leader to Leader

"Leadership Dialogues" on the Leader to Leader site. Short videos (mostly about two minutes) with leaders talking about something important to them. A nice pick-me-up. I check it every so often for a little inspiration. This is from the site founded by Peter Drucker, who is considered by many to be the guru of not for profit.

Bridgespan

A highly recognized organization focusing on strategy, executive leadership and funding capital, with many case studies and well documented articles. It's a 501(c)3, but it partners with a for profit.

The NonProfit Times

Calls itself "The Leading Business Publication for Nonprofit Management" This means it has a fair number of articles written in business-speak, but it's very useful as a digest and condensation of what's going on in the not for profit world. I subscribe to their weekly e-newsletter, which they send me for free. It's a condensation of articles of interest to nonprofits, but oddly with no links.

Harvard Business Review

Lots of thoughtful articles on leadership and much that is relevant to not for profits. I subscribe and listen to this on www.audible.com.
