Changing Vision to Implementation:
Using Appreciative Inquiry to Define your Nonprofit, Part 4 (of 4)

24 May, 2010

What's the most difficult part of any planning process? It's that final step, the one where you will be determining the implementation strategy. When it comes to asking, "Where are we going next? What should our next projects be?" things just aren't as clear as they might have been when you were planning.  Let's face it - it's always easier to look backward than to look forward. And how often have you heard about planning that was done by a few people without much input from others? About brilliant strategic plans that languished in file cabinets? Read More

Resource

Grantstation

Grantstation always has the most up-to-date resources for funding. If you are looking for grants, this is the place to go. Their database is maintained on a daily basis, unlike those of many other organizations who rely on the last form 990 filed with the IRS (information that is already well over a year out of date.) Their easy-to-use website is a fantastic tool for grantseekers, grantwriters, and anyone looking to see what funding is out there. I use it all the time for my own research. You need to join to really get into it (but you can look for sales on Tech Soup!) Great newsletter, webinars, and excellent tutorials on the grantseeking process, useful for grantseekers at any level.

04 May, 2010

"A few years ago, I chaired the Board of a school that took over another school. The school we acquired had just built a fantastic new building, but the construction had left them drowning in debt. Their educational mission was much like ours, and we had always had a relationship of mutual admiration." Read More

The Chronicle of Philanthropy

This is the grandmother of them all, so sure of itself that its domain name is "philanthropy". But it's full of information on everything nonprofit, too, with excellent journalism and coverage. You get a lot more when you subscribe, which is worth it, but there's still plenty available on their site.
